I never thought I would have a pet. I kept telling people “I’m just not a pet person”. But then during the pandemic, I started looking at cats that needed a forever home and Buffy called to me. After a brief 60-minute visit I decided to adopt her. She and I spent three days in my finished basement. I slept down there with her, fed her there and helped her feel safe. She stole my heart. When I see her little face in the doorway when I arrive home, I smile and the cares of the day wash away at least for that moment.
