I love using elements from nature in my artwork. It’s what draws me to clay – the feel of it and the earthiness of it. Collecting leaves from my garden becomes another way to connect with the outdoors and bring some of it inside. One of the ingredients in Indian food, and I love Indian food, is turmeric. Wondering how I got that beautiful goldish brown? Yep – turmeric added to my prepared paper before setting it out in the hot summer sun. Another bit of nature.
