Several years ago, we hiked in Arches National Park. Next to Bryce, it’s still one of my favorite places. We stayed at a small B&B in Moab, where we met our host, Jeff. Like us, he loved finding cliff art in unknown spots. He took us on a private tour, leading us to hidden petroglyphs tucked into the landscape. Cliff art tells the stories of our ancestors, daily life, family, struggle and survival. They are a living record of the people who came before us. Being there reminded me that this land holds wisdom much older than we often acknowledge. Native American teachings—rooted in deep respect for the Earth, community, and balance—are not only relevant but essential today.

We owe it to these original stewards of the land to listen, to learn, and to honor what remains. It’s not just about preservation—it’s about humility, about recognizing that there is still so much we can learn from Indigenous cultures about what truly matters.
